Realllllllyyyyy Old/ Rare Coins ???? where do i go to get them sold ? who do i have to speak/interact with ???
i have a lot of old coins that was passed down from my fathers father most of them have the Face of Queen Elizabeth the II on them and the years are range from 1976-1942 some are american and others British their are even some form the islands in the Carribbean and from columbia and canada and i think one from Isreal. There is a one coin that i have that is in the year of 1797 it is an american coin with the face of Goerge Washington on it, it actually says that he is the first president on it. I have another that is in the year of 1955 Government of Cyprus. Another says King and Emperor of India George VI with his picture then on the back it says jamaica 1942 one penny. Are these coins worth anything at all if so where the heck would i go??????>???
It depends on a number of factors, metal used, rarity, denomination, and so forth.
In general though, coins from the 1940’s are not considered that old.
The Washington coin is most likely a medal, as there were no coin denominations in 1797 with Washington’s face on it (there are extremely rare earlier coins that mints proposed as the American currency with Washington’s image, but he did not like the idea of having his portrait on money.) More of the coinage from back then were Flowing hair type coins (a picture of a woman signifying liberty).
Someone suggested eBay, which is usually a good place to start. A local coin shop may also be able to tell you something (don’t sell to the one you value at though, to avoid being cheated).
